17) Nine-banded armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus

Nine-banded armadillos can be found in North, Central, and South America where it is warm or has mild winters (Harwick, Brian). The climate has started to change increasing the temperatures throughout all of the months of the year. This temperature increase in the northern states is allowing the armadillos to
roam further north to get away from the extreme heat. The armadillos also have more room to roam and time to forage for food because the northern states are starting to have warmer summers and milder winters (Harwick, Brian). Researchers believe that they could start moving further up east to
Washington, D.C. and potentially New Jersey (Harwick, Brian). This will allow the animals to adapt the climate change and also learn to adapt to their new environments since each state is different from the next. This in turn will allow the fittest animals to survive and pass on the genes while others will die.
